Mindful Memorial Day Foundation

Mindful Memorial Day Foundation (MMDF) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded by Ben King in 2014. Mindful Memorial Day is an observance to honor fallen warriors through mindfulness. Only by devoting our fullest attention to the sacrifices of this generation of warriors can we begin to appreciate their importance to the citizens and institutions they died to protect.

Each Memorial Day weekend, MMDF gathers in the The Women in Military Service for America Memorial at Arlington Cemetery.

We hang yellow ribbons and fallen warrior cards—one for each service member killed in-theater since September 11, 2001.

Volunteers present each visitor with a Fallen Warrior Ribbon in an exchange called a mindful moment of gratitude.

The Bridge Project

The Bridge Project is an effort to bring healers and warriors together around the sacred act of honoring the fallen.

Our local effort is to bridge the gap between healers and warriors in DC by recruiting an Honor Brigade of 878 volunteers to honor the 878 post-9/11 fallen warriors buried in Arlington Cemetery.

Our honor brigade of 878 healers and warriors will join together on May 27 and deploy into Arlington Cemetery and honor each of the 878 post 9/11 fallen warriors with an individual, graveside mindful moment of gratitude.

On a national level we are encouraging mindfulness based organizations like yoga studios and mindfulness meditation sanghas to reach out to their local Veteran Service organizations like The Military order of the Purple Heart or the VFW and invite them to a locally created mindful moment of gratitude on May 27th.  The hope is that connecting around honoring the fallen, especially the fallen from your local communities, will serve as a bridge for healers and warriors to unite around a shared value.

For more information about how to create and host a Mindful Moment of Gratitude event in your community, email us at Ben@armordown.com.

We are currently recruiting members for The 2017 Honor Brigade set to fulfill its mission on Saturday, May 27, 2017. Sign up below!
